Surgery Update

Anna's surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 11 around 8 am. There has been one change in regards to how they will cover her brain with the electrodes. They will still place a small "burr" hole on the right side, however to increase coverage and chances of finding the starting point of the seizures, the surgeon will create a "trough" like incision (an inch or two) on the left side to allow him to insert more strips of electrodes on the left brain. Once those are in place, they will also place electrodes on her scalp. Her meds will be reduced and then we wait for seizures. Doctors are expecting this to take 3 - 5 days. Once the seizures are captured, doctors will all meet to review the information and decide the best surgery. The second brain surgery that could reduce or eliminate her seizures should take place within a day or two. Once that surgery is completed, then we should be able to come home in 2 - 3 days. Overall, we should be home for Christmas Eve. My fingers are crossed.....
