Surgery Update

It's late and I'm tired! Anna's surgery took place this morning from 8-10. The surgeon put in a new shunt and instead of the it going to her tummy (as the previous shunts have) he placed the drainage next to her lung. The fluid will be absorbed by her body and the compression from her lungs will help create a negative pressure to pull more fluid down from her head. She had a rough afternoon dealing with pain and an air bubble next to her lung that made it difficult to take deep breathes. Another chest x-ray in the morning will determine if the air bubble has corrected itself. They gave her some good pain meds and by mid-afternoon she took a long nap and had dinner around 5:15. There is a little - teeny weeny swelling, but hopefully that will clear.

Please pray for the swelling to be eliminated, air bubble next to her lung to clear, no seizures, and a quick recovery.

Love,
Rebecca
