Dear Friends,
I hope you are all doing well. Summer is around the corner and I know many of you have started making plans. Our family has also started thinking of summer and decided that we need some help! Word of mouth is sometimes the best way to find out information and find help, so my first step in doing this is reaching out to all of you. We are looking for someone to help us in our home on a part-time basis beginning the last week of June. This part time work will be available both during the summer and into the school year. Below is an outline of what we are looking for, so please help us spread and the word and if you know someone that would be a good fit for our family, send them my way! Please note that I am not recruiting anyone from their current position or school, I am honestly just spreading the word. I am thinking that a part-time college student or semi-retired woman might be interested….
Who are we? We are a Christian family looking for someone with Christian values to help us in our home: Louis is a super sweet husband and daddy that has his office at home. He spends about 60% of his time with customers and traveling. Rebecca is the mommy, works part-time at our church in the pre-school/kinder ministry, and tries her best to take care of our family and home. Camille is an awesome big sister with a big personality to match. She is full of life and has a great imagination. She is 8 years old and likes to stay busy playing with her dog Odie. Anna is an earth angel. While she battles Epilepsy and Cerebral Palsy, she is one of the most joyful humans I know. Always happy! She loves to love you and will give you hugs and kisses non-stop. We live in West Austin, in Steiner Ranch located off of 620.
Need: We need help watching Anna. While she is not walking or talking, she is fast and into everything. Anna is a 5 year old precious sweet girl with special needs. Anna can reach onto the kitchen counter (and stove) and open doors (yes, even the oven door). See why I need help? Camille (8 years old, precious and sweet too) will also be at home and will need less supervision, but still needs attention. May be required to drive short distances in the neighborhood (pool, camp pick-up or drop-off for Camille), prepare lunches, assist with baths for Anna, and light housework (just straightening up). Help is needed during the summer to help me continue with work, spend time with Camille, and get some things done around the house. Help during the school year is needed to help me take Camille to extra-curricular events, focus on homework/projects with her, and still give Anna enough attention.
Qualifications: female, 18 years of age, background check required, TX drivers license, references, in home interview
Pay and Benefits: $10 an hour plus all the ice cream, popsicles, and kisses you could ever wish for. There will be a third party agency handling taxes and cutting pay checks directly.
Hours: I am flexible, but to give you an idea: for the summer (starting the last week in June) 2-3 days a week from 9:00 – 2:00 or 3:00 and when school starts I am looking for 2-3 days a week from 1:00 or 2:00 – 6:00. We are not exactly sure where Anna will attend school, so depending on what time she is out of school will depend on the start time. So basically, we are looking for about 15-20 hours a week. This could increase as we get closer to the summer.

Please pass on to anyone that you know may be interested!
Thanks,
Rebecca Barkhuizen

You can call the special education department at UT. I don't know if they can help but they may be able to direct you in the right direction. I know college of ed students have to observe as well as volunteer in classrooms of different types.
Good luck,
